Currently, the world association of urologists understands the term erectile dysfunction is the inability to maintain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual activity, in that case if the disorders continued for at least three months. Thus, more than 75% of men are not treating this problem to the doctor, and poor self-medication leads to the further progression of the disease. It should be noted that often erectile dysfunction is a manifestation of many serious chronic diseases (diabetes, atherosclerosis, stroke, multiple sclerosis), so to solve this problem, a comprehensive survey of men and treatment with the involvement of many experts.
Erectile dysfunction can occur at any age, but the risk of its occurrence is higher in older people due to the high frequency of occurrence among them diabetes, hypertension, atherosclerosis. Other important factors include adverse obesity, smoking, alcohol abuse and physical inactivity. Taking certain medications, including drugs to treat cardiovascular disease, depression, neurological and psychiatric diseases, also may contribute to erectile dysfunction.
